IN ENGLISH: Steeped
in the acoustic roots and bewitching mountain harmonies of the American
backwoods, The New Prohibition Band is forging their own brand of
neo-folk. Their sound centers around the chilling voice and driving
songs of clawhammer banjoist/guitarist Cera Impala, joined by Dirk
Ronneburg on fiddle, and Thomas Baumgarte on contrabass. According to
East Bank Radio of Nashville, TN, this acoustic power trio delivers
"plenty of bang for the buck." They moved from Olympia, WA to Berlin,
Germany in 2007 to embark on what they call "a semi-permanent tour of
Europe."
einverstanden. Durchdrungen von akustischen Roots und
einnehmenden Harmonien der Bergmusik des amerikanischen Hinterlandes,
zollt The New Prohibition Band der Tradition Ihren Respekt, nicht ohne
VORSICHT: The New Prohibition Band kann auch
jederzeit und ohne Vorwarnung mit einem Tanzlied die Scheune zum
Brennen bringen.

 | Cera Impala: banjo,
vocals
Cera is the band’s fast-frailing
banjo mama, and is the primary songwriter. She was formerly a guitarist with the
popular Northwest US band, "The Blackberry Bushes," and also fronts "The
Cera Impala Project," another outlet for her prolific songwriting.
Cera studied Performing Arts at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, NY
and The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, and brings her
consummate professionalism to every rehearsal and performance. | | "Dr." Dirk Ronneburg: fiddle, vocals
Dirk
is a hopeless addict of acoustic music and has spent many years of
performing it. Starting with solo acoustic roots blues, he also
played guitar and sang with the Mudbay Stompers and Head for the Hills
Bluegrass Band in Olympia, WA. In addition to his work
with TNPB, Dirk may be spotted on the streets of Berlin playing hot
jazz with "The ShoeSwing Stringers." He also lends his fiddling
to "The Songdogs" and many
other Berlin
bands. | | Thomas Baumgarte: bass, vocals
A
grandmaster of the low end, Tom has been working as a bass player in
and around Berlin for decades. A short list of his many credits
and bands includes: Dziuks Küche, Colinda, H.P.
Daniels, Hands Off Dan, Indijana And The Jones, Jamestown
Ferry, Mark Merrit, Ron Randolf And The Hot Nachos, Smiledriver,
Space Hobos, and Bob Williams. |
